We purchased our first bullmastiff
2 years ago and have been hooked every since. After visiting
various pet stores and animal shelters while living in Pennsylvania,
we fell in love with the Bullmastiff. We loved their gentleness
and could easily see why they are referred to as the Gentle Giant.
During this time frame, we were searching for a Log Cabin in
the Smokey Mountain Area and our move was soon to be made and
we wanted a Bullmastiff to move along with us and to become part
of our family. We searched high and low for a male brindle
who would fit into our family. We were very fortunate
to meet a wonderful breeder in Hershey Pennsylvania who was willing
to ship over 2 of his pups from Moscow for us to look at.
We drove the 4 hours to Hershey and fell in love with Vlatimer.
During the next few months while he was growing in leaps in bounds,
he spent many hours driving back and forth between Pennsylvania
and Tennessee stretched out in our front seat. He loves
our truck even to this day. We settled into our home
in Tennessee and soon realized Vlatimer needed a friend,
we adopted, Big Mac,from the local animal shelter who was a moutain
feist. Although he was great company he was way too quick
for our larger bullmastiff.
Months went by and we became more obsessed with
Bullmastiffs, attending dog shows, talking to breeders all over
the country and reading everything we could about the breed.
We came to the conclusion that the Bullmastiff was indeed the
breed for us. After searching again, we finally found
Gracie, another brindle. She has such a great temperment.
Never knew a dog so laid back and her loyalty to us was beyond
words. When I fell off my horse and broke my pelvis, she
stayed with me, laying beside my bed never leaving my side and
following me everywhere I went while I scrambled around the house
in my walker.
When Gracie became old enough to breed, Vlatimer
and Gracie became parents. She had a wonderful pregnancy
and on December 20, 2008 only 2 days before Vlatimer's birthday
she had 11 healthy puppies via C-Section. She was such
a wonderful mom.
During the months prior to her delivery, we
fell in love with Faith and Hope and they joined our family.
Charity joined us only a few months ago.
Yes we have became bullmastiff
nuts and we love it. All of our dogs were staying in the
house until about a month ago when we finally got our kennel
built, and there again our dogs are spoiled. All of them
have their private sleeping areas with 25 foot runs and pillows,
and of course air conditioning. All of our dogs rotate
spending time in the home and all spend time exercising on our
one acre that we have set aside for the dogs. We take turns
taking them for walks for them to have alone time with us, but
the best time they have is when we gather 2 or 3 of them in our
truck and take them walking in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg,
They love the ride and they love all of the attention they get.
These trips have made our dogs very socialized and we enroll
our dogs in puppy classes and Good Citizen Classes. We believe
so much in well socialization and obedience that Dennis had gone
on to obtain his Dog Obedience Certificate and we offer
this training to those who obtain pups from us. The
Quality and Health of our dog is on upmost importance and
we spend much time choosing our dogs and making sure they have
plenty of vet care and the proper nutrition and exercise.
We have much confidence in the health and quality of our dogs
that all pups have a one year health guarantee. We hope
to get into showing our wonderful dogs in the next few months. |
